John Welliever - HOF Class of 2003
John Welliever is a 1961 graduate of CHS. He was an outstanding wrestler who finished 3rd in the state for 3 consecutive years and 4th in the state one year. He then went on wrestle at Indiana State University where he won All-American honors in 1963, 1964, and 1965. He is also a member of the Indiana High School Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Lori Pyle (Thompson) - HOF Class of 2003
Lori Pyle Thompson is a 1987 graduate of CHS. She won 9 varsity letters in her career including 3 in volleyball, 3 in basketball, and 3 in softball. She was All-Conference in volleyball her senior year, twice MVP in softball and captain of the basketball team her senior year.
Janna Surber (Gilstrap) - HOF Class of 2003
Janna Surber Gilstrap is a 1988 graduate of CHS. She won 7 letters in her career including 4 in tennis and 3 in volleyball. She received All-Conference honors in tennis and volleyball in her senior year and was also volleyball MVP and captain that year.
Rick Schavietello - HOF Class of 2003
Rick Schavietello was the Head Football Coach at CHS for 21 years, from 1977 to 1997. His 124 wins are the most of any football coach in CHS history. Coach Schavietello coached teams to the playoffs in every format the IHSAA developed. His 1977 and 1981 teams made it to the Final Eight and his 1982 and 1989 teams made it to the Final Four. Upon his retirement, he had posted a winning record against every conference opponent and had a four and four record against Lafayette Jeff.
Chris Meyers - HOF Class of 2003
Chris Myers is a 1991 graduate of CHS. He won 11 letters in his career including 4 in golf, 4 in tennis, and 3 in basketball. He was All-Conference in tennis in 1988, 1989, and 1990. He won the Sectional singles title in 1989 and was also tennis MVP that year. Chris continued to play tennis at DePauw University and lettered all four years. He was an Academic All-American in 1995.
Bob Reese - HOF Class of 2003
Bob Reese is a 1971 graduate of CHS. He ranks 10th on the career scoring list in basketball with 961 points for an average of 15.2 points per game. He scored 500 points in his senior year which places him 8th on the all time list. He was also a starter in baseball for 3 years.
Larry Grimes - HOF Class of 2003
Larry Grimes is a 1965 graduate of CHS. He scored 997 points in his basketball career, which ranks him 7th on the all-time scoring list. He had a single game high of 36 points and a single season high of 590 points, which was the highest single season total until 1989. He is also a member of the Michigan Tech Athletic Hall of Fame.
Don “Slick” Martin - HOF Class of 2003
Don Martin graduated from CHS in 1932 and spent many years announcing CHS football games and Wabash College basketball games. He held season tickets for basketball for 56 years and watched basketball games in every gym where basketball was played in Crawfordsville. That would include the YMCA Armory, the CHS Auditorium, the gymnasium on College Street, and the new gym on this site. Don was a member of the first Hall of Fame committee and served until his death in 1998.
John Green - HOF Class of 2003John Green was a 1914 graduate of CHS. He played on the 1912-13 team, which went to the Final Four. He had a single game high of 48 points, which remained the CHS record until 1994. The teams he played on had a record of 36-17. He was selected to the All-State Basketball gteam in 1913.
Clio Shaw - HOF Class of 2003
Clio Shaw was a 1911 graduate of CHS. He was a four-year starter on the basketball and playmaker of the 1911 IHSAA State Championship team. In the four years he played, the teams had a record of 62-11.
