Summer Lunch program serves 11,717 meals
Throughout June and July, CCSC operated five summer meal sites, concluding service on July 25th in preparation for the new school year. Crawfordsville High School served as a breakfast-only site, while Crawfordsville Middle School and Nicholson Elementary both functioned as public lunch sites. Nicholson also supported summer school programming during the first two and a half weeks of the session. In addition, CCSC partnered with the Boys and Girls Club and Park and Recreation’s Camp Milligan, both of which operated as closed sites.
Across all locations, a total of 4,036 breakfasts and 7,681 lunches were served during the summer months. In June (21 days), 2,764 breakfasts were provided and 4,685 lunches, for an average of approximately 132 breakfasts and 223 lunches per day. In July (18 days), 1,272 breakfasts and 2,996 lunches were served, averaging about 71 breakfasts and 166 lunches per day.
During July, when school was not in session, our two public lunch sites averaged 27 students per day at CMS and 15 students per day at Nicholson, for a combined daily average of 42 students served.
