College Aspirations
Crawfordsville graduates attend some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation.
The Crawfordsville Community School Corporation has always placed a premium on preparing its students for higher education. One only needs to look at some of the prestigious colleges and universities attended by CHS grads as evidence of this commitment.
Currently, CHS graduates are attending such highly touted universities as Harvard, Princeton, Cornell and Notre Dame. Princeton and Harvard are ranked first and second respectively on most surveys of top universities with Cornell and Notre Dame not far behind.
CHS grads have also attended prestigious schools such as Dartmouth and Brown as well as several distinguished small schools including Claremont McKenna, Carleton, Haverford, Denison, Wooster, and Kenyon. And, of course, Crawfordsville’s Wabash and Greencastle’s DePauw, arch rivals in the athletic arena and very well respected nationwide, have attracted several former and current Athenians. Several CHS grads have also attended Rose Hulman, a small school in Terre Haute which is recognized as one of the finest engineering schools in the country.
Each year, several former Crawfordsville High School students remain in state to pursue degrees at Butler, a larger but well-respected private school, and the two largest state schools, Indiana and Purdue. The latter two are nationally regarded for their schools of medicine and engineering respectively.
Crawfordsville Community Schools takes great pride in its tradition of academic success. This is underscored by the impressive number of its graduates who have furthered their education in some of the nation’s finest institutions of higher learning.
