Mollie B. Hoover was built in 1957 with the multipurpose room and southeast addition added in 1960. An additional wing was added in 1999. This area includes a gymnasium, kitchen, art and music rooms, media center, three classrooms, and a community room. All other areas of the building were completely remodeled at this time making the space responsive to current needs of students and Hoover’s educational programs. A completely new playground was also installed at this time. Hoover school was also renovated in the summer of 2016 which included updates to bathrooms, hallways, office spaces, and the cafeteria. All classroom instructional spaces, teacher workroom, and gymnasium were updated during the summer of 2018. New furniture for all classroom spaces was also purchased for students. Located at the southern edge of the school district, Hoover serves a population that includes over 60% of its students on free and/or reduced lunches. A student population of over 375 attend fourth and fifth grades. A football field and track are located adjacent to the school grounds which is utilized by Crawfordsville Middle School.
Hoover Elementary offers a wide range of high quality special education programming.
Other student support services offered include: School-wide Title I, speech, physical, and occupational therapy, English as a Second Language, remediation, after school tutoring, and school counseling.
Parents are encouraged to actively participate in the education of their children. Parent/Teacher Conferences are conducted annually. Title I staff conducts several family engagement nights throughout the school year. Family Night topics and activities are based on parent survey input.
The staff at Hoover is dedicated, caring and supportive of the students and their families, as well as the community. Inspiring students to be life-long learners is apparent as teachers continue their own education, train student teachers, and assist with program development. Some of the student programs made available through teacher involvement include: Honors Choir, boys’ and girls’ athletics, Robotics, Academic Bowl Teams, Running Club, Homework Club, Art Club, Student Council, and Caring Hearts Club.
