Help us create a Safe Route to School
Thanks to a Health by Design grant, Danville Ave, Prospect St. E. Chestnut St., S. Elm St., and E. South Blvd. have been designated as a Safe Route to School, helping students safely walk to Hoover Elementary and Crawfordsville Middle School. New yard signs throughout the area remind drivers to slow down and watch for children walking and biking to school.
Walking and biking to school helps children stay active, build healthy habits, gain independence, and arrive at school ready to learn. Together, we can make these routes safer for everyone!

How You Can Help
- Slow down and stay alert during school arrival and dismissal times.
- Watch for children walking, biking, and crossing streets.
- Secure pets during school arrival and dismissal so children can travel safely without unexpected encounters.
- Keep sidewalks clear, especially during winter weather, by removing snow and ice promptly.
- Support active transportation by encouraging children to walk or bike when it is safe to do so.
The yard sign is a visible reminder that children may be present and that the neighborhood is committed to creating a safer, healthier community for all.
Thank you for doing your part to help our students arrive at school safely!
