Have you ever wondered what would happen if your student broke their Chromebook? Well, if you took out the insurance at the beginning of the year, it would most likely be covered. The insurance covers accidental damage like from drops, liquid spills and submersion, theft, burglary and robbery as well as a host of standard perils such as fire, flood, vandalism, natural disasters and power surges due to lightning. It will not however cover an unexplained loss or mysterious disappearance. So if your student walks off and leaves it somewhere, your policy will not cover it.
If you have coverage, and it does sustain damages, such as a shattered screen, ask your student to bring it to the Tech Office. It will be sent in for repairs. If it is stolen, you must report it to the police. A copy of the report must be submitted with the coverage claim.
If you did not get the insurance coverage, you will be responsible for the financial reimbursement of the Chromebook and the bag, in the event of damage to or theft.
Insurance coverage is only offered to existing students at the beginning of the school year. It runs less than $30 per machine. New students are eligible for coverage during registration. Payment must be made within 7 days of enrollment.
